SACRAMENTO AREA – WEATHER ALERT
A series of Winter Storms will continue to impact the Northern California area though next week. A few winter hazards will be in place during this storm event. Here are a few tips from Servpro of Citrus Heights / Roseville and Carmichael.
Oil has had a few months to accumulate on the roadways. Rainfall on these roads will cause slicker than usual conditions.
High winds combined with moderate rain may cause small branches to fall and cause local power outages.
Ponding of water on roadways will be possible of moderate to heavy rainfall. Reduce high speeds to eliminate vehicle hydroplaning. Increase your following distance to allow time to stop.
Heavy snowfall over the mountain may cause traffic delays, chain controls and/or road closures.
If you plan to travel over the Sierra’s carry chains, extra food and additional warm clothing and expect road delays.
The multiple system is predicted to bring approximately 2-3 inches of rain during this period within the Sacramento Region.
Winterize your home this season to prevent additional moisture to entering your home. These helpful tips will ensure you have a warm and dry winter season:
Remove any debris alongside your home to eliminate any water pooling against your home. Ensure you have a 2-3 degree slope away from your home to ensure proper drainage.
Unclog those gutters! With clogged or debris filled gutters water will travel along side your home find an opening causing water damage to your home.
Remove any foreign debris from your roof top that may cause shingle damage. With high winds debris may slide under a few shingles leaving your roof top exposed to water damage.
